PCB plays down KCCA request to move matches from Ramazan

Karachi (PPI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) rejected the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) request to move the Regional Inter District U-19 One-Day and Two-Day tournaments from the holy month of Ramazan. Secretary KCCA Sirajul Islam Bukhari requested PCB to change the date of the tournaments asked either to play the matches before or after the month of Ramazan. However, PCB said that the One-Day and Two-Day tournaments would start from 16th and 17th August 2009 respectively as it was earlier scheduled. "Some matches of this tournament will be played in the Holy month of Ramadan. It is a regular practice and this is not the first time that the matches would be played in Ramadan," PCB official said. "The dates of these tournaments were fixed keeping in view the ICC Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand," he added.
