Pakistan reiterates commitment to resume dialogue process with India

Islamabad (PPI): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated Pakistan's commitment to resume dialogue process with India as it is only way forward to improve relations. Talking to newsmen after presiding specialised training of foreign office officers at Foreign Office Training Academy here Tuesday, he said mutual cooperation and dialogue were only way forward that will benefit both countries. ``We have to engage to resolve all issues. Foreign secretaries of Pakistan and India will meet very soon before annual UN session so that they present report to their Foreign Ministers as they will then engage each other on sidelines of UN session. Following meeting between Prime Ministers in Sharm El-Sheikh, leaders once again reiterated willingness to resume dialogue process.'' On sharing information at level of agencies between Pakistan and India, he said engagement at any level is possible. He said both countries have a joint mechanism for sharing information and fighting terrorism. With more interaction, mechanism could be further improved. About providing information to India on its interference in Baluchistan, he issue was discussed by two Premiers and foreign secretaries in Sharm el-Sheikh. ``I believe sensitive matters should be handled carefully and through diplomatic sources instead of media.'' On fresh answers to queries sent by Pakistan to India in Ajmal Kasab case, Qureshi said these were necessary to make case more logically tenable in court. As case is in court, it required more tangible and logical evidences so that case could reach to conclusion. Pakistan and India are victims of terrorism and cooperation in fight against this menace was need of hour. On acquisition of nuclear powered submarines by India, he said ``we have taken serious notice of this development. Pakistan is fully aware of its defence needs and confident of its defence strength. We have full confidence in our armed forces and people. ``Pakistan has no aggressive designs. We do not want to follow arms race in the region but there is balance due to strategically ability of Pakistan. This clearly indicates war in not option in the region and will be suicidal attempt. Dialogue is only way forward. I don't see any lack of will among leaders of Pakistan and India. ``I hope dialogue process will resume soon and urge media of both countries to play constructive role for its success. With positive attitudes we can make progress,'' Qureshi observed.
